Birthday Cake Confetti Smoothie Bowl
All the celebration, none of the frosting crash. This bowl tastes like soft-serve cake batter, ribbons beautifully with a yogurt “frosting,” and takes natural sprinkles like a dream.
What it’s best for
Mood-lifting dessert vibes with balanced macros. Optional protein/collagen for staying power; dairy-free paths included.
Yield & time
Makes 1 generous bowl (~450–500g). 5 minutes active.
Base (soft-serve thick)
250 g frozen banana (1 3/4 - 2 cups slices)
50–60 g cashew milk (¼ cup) (almond or 2% milk work too)
60 g plain Greek yogurt (¼ cup) (DF: coconut yogurt)
20–25 g vanilla protein (1 scoop; ≈2–3 Tbsp, optional)
10 g cashew butter (2 tsp)
5–10 g maple or date syrup (1–2 tsp, to taste)
1 g vanilla extract (¼ tsp)
Cake-batter emulsion 1–2 g (¼–½ tsp, brand strength varies)
Almond extract 1–2 drops (optional)
Pinch fine sea salt (~0.3–0.5 g)
“Frosting” drizzle
Whisk 40 g Greek yogurt (3 Tbsp) + 5–8 g maple (1–1½ tsp) + 0.25 tsp vanilla + tiny pinch salt. Thin with 5–10 g milk to squeeze-bottle flow.
Toppings
Natural sprinkles, granola 15–20 g (1½–2 Tbsp), banana coins, oat crumb (pulse 10 g oats + cinnamon pinch), a few cacao nibs 5 g (1 Tbsp) if you like contrast.
Method
Chill the bowl 10–15 minutes. Paint 3–4 “frosting” lines up the sides; freeze 2–3 minutes to set.
Blend the base: liquids → powders/salt → yogurt/nut butter → frozen banana last. Tamper to soft-serve peaks; stop as soon as it turns satiny.
Fill & finish: spoon in the base, add a top swirl of frosting drizzle, marble with a skewer, then add sprinkles and crunch.
Make it thicker
Keep total free liquid to 50–70 g.
If your blender warms the mix, add 40–60 g ice (⅓–½ cup) and blend just 5–10 seconds.
Still soft? Add +10 g oats (2 Tbsp) or +10 g collagen (≈1½ Tbsp).
Flavor notes & swaps
Dairy-free: almond/cashew milk + coconut yogurt; skip collagen.
Sugar-lite: hold base syrup to 5 g, add allulose 6–8 g (1½–2 tsp) for sweetness without thinning; or move sweetness to the frosting drizzle.
Vanilla cake pop: add collagen 10 g for frosting-like gloss and a butter-vanilla emulsion 0.25 tsp.
